Supported languages

Diglot is built for writers who think in one language and publish in English. This page covers two things: which languages the Diglot interface is available in, and which language pairs the Translator and Paraphrase tools work with.

Interface languages

You can use Diglot’s interface in five languages:

You can switch the interface language anytime in Settings.

Translating between languages

The Translator lets you draft in your stronger language and refine in English. You can translate from any of the five interface languages into English, and from English back into them.

Quality varies by pair:

• Russian, Ukrainian, and Spanish ↔ English are well-tuned in both directions.
• Chinese ↔ English works well for everyday writing, and is a little less precise for formal academic Mandarin.

Diglot reliably handles different scripts — Latin, Cyrillic, and Chinese characters — so it can tell your languages apart even in short text.

Paraphrasing in other languages

The paraphrase styles are tuned mainly for English. When you paraphrase Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish, or Chinese text:

• Simple and Casual work well in any language.
• Academic and Formal are calibrated for English first, so they’re a bit less precise in other languages.
• Humanize is tuned for English text.

Your paraphrased text stays in the same language as your input unless you choose to translate it.

Limitations

• The interface is available in five languages today. We’re adding more over time.
• For languages outside the five above, the Translator can still attempt your text, but quality isn’t guaranteed.

Common questions

Does Diglot support my language? The interface is in five languages. For drafting and translation, Diglot can attempt many other languages, though quality isn’t guaranteed for languages we don’t officially support yet.

Can I paraphrase Chinese text without translating it? Yes. Paraphrasing keeps your text in its original language unless you ask to translate it.

Why are Russian and Ukrainian listed separately? They’re distinct languages with different vocabulary and tone. Keeping them separate means better, more accurate results for each.
