Quotas & Limits

Each Diglot tool comes with a monthly allowance based on your plan. This page explains how those limits work, what you’ll see as you get close to one, and what to do when you run out.

How limits work

Most tools — translate, paraphrase, grammar, plagiarism, AI detection, Co-writer, citations, synonyms, research, export, and certificates — are metered monthly. A couple of things (saved documents and saved research sources) are total caps instead.

Everything resets on the 1st of each calendar month at 00:00 UTC. Limits are monthly, not daily, and the reset is not tied to your billing date. Total caps (documents, saved sources) don’t reset on a schedule — you free up room by deleting items.

What you’ll see as you approach a limit

Diglot gives you a gentle, increasing heads-up as you use up an allowance:

Used	What you’ll notice
Under 50%	Almost nothing — the usage indicator stays quiet
50–80%	A small usage bar appears
80–95%	The usage bar turns orange
95–100%	The usage bar turns red
100%	A red banner appears and the action is paused until you upgrade or the limit resets

Where to check your usage

In the sidebar there’s a small circular usage indicator. Hover over it to open a panel that shows:

• Your current plan
• A countdown to the next reset (“resets in 5 days”)
• A used / total bar for each metered tool
• Any tools that are unlimited on your plan

The sidebar also shows a button to upgrade to the next plan up.

When you run out

If you’ve used up a tool’s monthly allowance, the action pauses and a clear message appears with an “Upgrade” option. The same happens if a tool isn’t included in your plan at all — you’ll see exactly which plan unlocks it, rather than a vague error. Upgrading or waiting for the monthly reset both restore access.

Saving your best AI quality

If you’re on Pro, you can switch your AI quality down for simple tasks to preserve your higher-quality allowance for important work. There’s a small quality switcher in the editor:

• Fluent — available on every plan
• Smart — Spark and up
• Native — Pro and Max

For example, use Fluent for a quick grammar check, then switch back to Native for the final polish of a thesis. Your choice stays for the session. See AI quality tiers for more.

When your trial ends

Your 7-day trial gives you full Spark access (better AI and larger limits). When it ends, you move to the Free plan: all your documents, glossary, and settings are kept, and your limits adjust to the Free level. Any Spark-only features become available again if you upgrade.

When a referral boost ends

If you’ve earned a temporary AI boost through referrals, the sidebar and your Billing settings show how many days are left. As it gets close to expiring, you’ll get a reminder:

• About a week before it ends — a soft notice
• In the last day — a more prominent reminder

When the boost ends, your AI quality simply returns to your plan’s normal level — your work isn’t affected. See Referral program to learn how to earn boosts.

Common questions

When does my quota reset? All limits reset on the 1st of each calendar month at 00:00 UTC — not on your billing date. The sidebar usage panel shows a countdown.

I hit a limit — what now? You can wait for the monthly reset, or upgrade to a higher plan for larger limits. Spark has roughly 10–20× the limits of Free, and Pro is unlimited on most tools.

Can I buy extra usage without upgrading? Not at the moment — upgrading is the way to get larger limits. Bonus words from referrals add to your word allowance but don’t change tool-specific limits.

Why is Humanize using my paraphrase allowance? The Humanize feature runs through the paraphrase engine, so it shares your paraphrase word allowance.

I’m on Pro — can I use a lighter AI to save my best quality? Yes. Use the quality switcher in the editor to drop to Fluent or Smart for simple tasks, and switch back to Native for high-stakes work.

What happens to my documents if I downgrade? Everything is preserved — documents, glossary, settings, and history. Only your limits change, and features tied to higher plans become unavailable until you upgrade again. Your data always stays.
