Grammar Checker

The grammar checker catches errors in your writing as you type and explains them — in your own language. It covers grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style, with clear fixes you can apply in one click and explanations that help you actually learn, not just correct.

How to find it

• As you type — issues are underlined automatically in the editor.
• Grammar tab — open it in the right panel for the full list of issues, grouped by type.
• Cowriter — say “check my grammar” in chat.

Press Cmd+. (Mac) or Ctrl+. (Windows) to instantly fix the nearest issue.

Reading the underlines

Working with an issue

Click any underlined word to open its popover, where you can:

• Apply the suggested fix (same as pressing Cmd+.)
• Reject the suggestion for now
• Ignore rule to stop flagging this kind of issue (this sticks)
• Explain in detail to get a plain-language explanation of why — available on Spark and above
• Add to dictionary so this word isn’t flagged again

Quick-fix

Press Cmd+. (Mac) or Ctrl+. (Windows) to apply the suggested fix for the issue nearest your cursor — keyboard-first, no mouse needed.

Correct all at once

Click Correct all in the Grammar panel to fix every issue together. Diglot shows a preview of all the changes; you can scroll through and reject any individual fix before it’s applied. It accepts automatically after a few seconds, and only the changes you kept are applied — no surprises.

Explanations in your language

Click Explain in detail to learn why a rule applies, written in your native language (Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish, or Chinese). It’s a genuinely useful way to improve your English over time. This is available on Spark and above.

Your dictionary and ignored rules

• Personal dictionary — add words that get wrongly flagged (proper nouns, technical terms). They’re skipped in every document from then on.
• Ignored rules — turn off specific rules you disagree with, like an Oxford comma preference. Manage them in settings.

Plans and limits

The grammar checker uses a monthly word allowance. Every entry point — typing, the panel, and Cowriter — draws from the same bucket, which resets on the 1st of each month.

Limitations

• Grammar checking is strongest in English. Other languages are supported well, just a touch slower.
• Detailed explanations are available on Spark and above — on Free you’ll see the fix but not the reasoning.

Common questions

How is this different from other grammar tools? Diglot’s grammar checker is part of a full bilingual workflow — it explains issues in your native language and works alongside Cowriter, the Translator, and paraphrasing.

Does it work for non-English text? Yes, for the five supported languages (English, Russian, Ukrainian, Spanish, and Chinese).

Can I turn off specific rules? Yes — click Ignore rule in the popover. You can manage all your ignored rules in settings.

Why did Correct all show a preview instead of just fixing everything? For your safety. You can review each change and reject any you disagree with. It accepts after a few seconds, or you can keep your original.

What does Cmd+. do? It’s the quick-fix shortcut — it instantly applies the nearest grammar suggestion without opening the popover.

Why is the Explain button missing? Detailed explanations are available on Spark and above. On the Free plan you’ll see the suggested fix but not the explanation behind it.
