The editor

The editor is where everything in Diglot happens. It’s a rich-text editor where you draft, translate, check, paraphrase, and polish your writing — with all of Diglot’s tools right there beside your text. Best of all, nothing the AI suggests is applied without your approval: every change appears as a preview you can accept or reject.

How to find it

• Open any document from your dashboard to start editing.
• Click + New document to start fresh — blank, or from a template.

The editor is available on every plan. The editor itself is always free; only how much you can use each AI tool changes by plan.

What you’ll see

• Top bar — your document title, breadcrumbs, share, and export.
• Toolbar — formatting like bold, italic, underline, headings, and lists, plus a citation-style selector for export.
• Document area — where you write.
• Right panel — tabs for all the writing tools: Cowriter, Grammar, Paraphrase, Translate, AI Check, Plagiarism, Citations, Templates, and your Authorship Certificate. Each tab works on your current selection or the whole document.
• Status bar — word count, character count, reading time, and your save status.

The slash menu

Type / anywhere to open a quick command menu:

• /cite — insert a citation
• /template — apply a template structure
• /translate — translate selected text
• /ai — open Cowriter
• /h1, /h2, /h3, /h4 — add a heading
• /image, /table, /quote, /code, /divider, /list — insert elements

Asking Cowriter (Cmd+K)

Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows) to open a small box where you type a plain-language instruction. What it does depends on the moment:

• With nothing selected, it works at your cursor.
• With text selected, it works on that selection.
• Right after pasting a long passage, it offers to weave the pasted text into your document.

You can choose whether Cowriter should touch only your selection or adjust the rest of the document for consistency. By default, it can adjust the whole document. For long documents, Cowriter focuses on the area around your selection and reads more as needed, so it stays fast and on-topic.

Pasting long text

When you paste more than a sentence or two, a small Integrate this chip appears near your cursor. Click it to have Cowriter blend the pasted text into your document. The chip fades after a few seconds, or when you start typing — and you can always just paste normally and ignore it.

The selection menu

Select any text and a small floating toolbar appears with quick actions: Translate, Paraphrase, Grammar, AI Check, and Copy. Each one opens the matching tool with your selection ready to go.

Highlights and colored underlines

Several tools can highlight your text at once, each with its own color:

• Grammar — red wavy (error), orange (warning), blue dotted (suggestion)
• Plagiarism — red, orange, or yellow by how close the match is
• AI Check — purple or orange on flagged passages
• Citations — styled inline citation markers

Click any highlight to see the details and decide what to do.

Reviewing AI changes

Every AI change — from Cowriter, grammar Correct All, paraphrasing, or humanizing — shows up as a preview first:

• Green = text being added
• Red strikethrough = text being removed
• Accept or reject each change individually, or use Accept all / Reject all
• Undo (Cmd+Z) still works after you accept

Some quick actions (like Replace in the Translator) accept automatically after a few seconds, and you can reject before that happens. The point is simple: you always see the change before it sticks.

Auto-save

Your document saves automatically as you write. The status bar shows Saved, Saving…, or that changes are queued while you’re offline.

Limitations

• It’s a single-writer editor — real-time collaboration isn’t available yet.
• Very long documents (roughly 50+ pages) may feel a little slower to highlight.
• You can keep editing offline, but AI features need an internet connection.
• Image support is basic — no inline resizing or captions yet.
• There’s no Word-style track-changes mode; the accept/reject preview is how you review edits.

Common questions

Is this like Google Docs? It’s a similar rich-text editor, but with a bilingual workflow and AI tools built in. Real-time collaboration isn’t available yet — it’s single-writer for now.

Can I use keyboard shortcuts? Yes. Standard formatting shortcuts work, plus Cmd+K for Cowriter, / for the slash menu, and Cmd+. for a quick grammar fix. See the full table above.

Where is my document saved? It saves automatically to the cloud as you write.

Can I import a Word document? Document import is planned. For now, copy and paste is the way to bring text in.

How do I export? Use the Export button in the toolbar. Your plan includes a monthly number of exports.

Why do I see colored underlines? Those are highlights from Grammar, Plagiarism, or AI Check. Click any underline to see what it is and act on it.

What happens when I paste a long text? A small chip offers to blend it into your document with AI. It fades after a few seconds or when you start typing, and you can always paste normally instead.

Can the AI edit my whole document at once? Yes, if you let Cowriter adjust the whole document in the Cmd+K box. It can make coordinated changes across sections.
