Account Management

You’re in full control of your Diglot account. This page covers editing your profile, downloading your data, managing where you’re signed in, creating API keys, and deleting your account.

You’ll find these settings under the gear icon in the sidebar, which opens Settings. Profile and data options live in the Account tab; sessions, API keys, and Authorship Protection live in the Security tab.

In Settings → Account you can update:

  • Display name — up to 100 characters.
  • Avatar — upload any image and crop it; we save a tidy square version for you.
  • Native language — detected from your browser when you sign up, and editable any time.
  • Target language — defaults to English.

Changes save as soon as you make them.

Your email is shown but can’t be changed directly in Settings — it’s tied to your sign-in. To change the email on your account, contact support and we’ll help.

You can change your password from Settings or the login screen. If you’ve forgotten it, use “Forgot password” on the login page to get a reset link by email. Diglot never stores your raw password.

You can export everything we hold for your account as a single file:

  • Where: Settings → Account → “Export my data”
  • What you get: one JSON file with all of your information
  • How often: up to 3 exports per hour

The export includes your profile, all documents and folders, Co-writer sessions and messages, certificates, share links, saved citations, notifications, AI-detection history, translation history and glossary, templates, plagiarism scan history, billing and word-credit records, referral data, login history, device sessions, onboarding progress, and basic info about your API keys.

For your security, the export never contains passwords, security tokens, or API key secrets.

In Settings → Security → “Active sessions” you’ll see every device that’s currently signed in to your account, with details like the device and browser, location, and when it was last used. Your current device is marked with a “This device” badge.

You can:

  • Sign out a single device — revoke any session except the one you’re using.
  • Sign out everywhere else — revoke all other sessions in one click.

The list refreshes right after you make a change.

If you build with the Diglot API, you can create keys in Settings → Security → “API keys”:

  1. Click “Create API key” and give it a name.
  2. The key is generated with access to translate, paraphrase (rewrite), grammar, and Co-writer.
  3. The secret is shown only once — copy it right away. For your security, we can’t show it again later.

You’ll see each key listed with its name, a short identifying prefix, its access, and when it was last used. Keys can be revoked any time. To change a key, revoke it and create a new one (keys can’t be edited after creation). We email you whenever a new key is created, for your awareness.

In Settings → Security → “Authorship Protection” you can opt in to record your writing process for the Authorship Certificate. It’s off by default. The first time you turn it on, we explain exactly what gets recorded. You can also turn it on or off for individual documents. See the Authorship Certificate help for the full picture.

If you’d like to delete your account:

  1. Go to Settings → Account → “Delete account.”
  2. Type DELETE MY ACCOUNT to confirm (the button stays disabled until you do).
  3. Confirm in the dialog that appears.

Your account then enters a 30-day grace period. You’re signed out of all devices immediately, and the account is inaccessible during this time. If you change your mind within those 30 days, just contact support to restore it.

After 30 days, everything is permanently deleted — your profile, documents and folders, Co-writer history, certificates, shares, citations, notifications, translation history and glossary, templates, plagiarism history, billing and word-credit records, referral data, logs, sessions, API keys, and any uploaded or exported files. Once this happens, the data can’t be recovered.

How do I change my email? Email is tied to your sign-in and can’t be edited in Settings. Contact support and we’ll help.

How do I delete my account? Settings → Account → “Delete account.” Type “DELETE MY ACCOUNT” to confirm. You have 30 days to change your mind.

Can I download my data? Yes. Settings → Account → “Export my data” gives you a single file with all your documents, settings, and history.

What happens to my data after I delete my account? It enters a 30-day grace period. After that, everything is permanently deleted and can’t be recovered.

How do I log out of other devices? Settings → Security → “Active sessions” → “Sign out everywhere else,” or revoke individual sessions.

Where do I create an API key? Settings → Security → “API keys” → “Create API key.” Copy the secret right away — it’s shown only once.

I forgot to copy my API key secret. You’ll need to revoke that key and create a new one. Secrets can’t be retrieved after creation.

Is my data encrypted? Yes. See Data privacy & security for the details.
