Research Library

Upload your PDFs into a private library, then ask questions and get answers based only on your own material — with every claim linked back to the page it came from, ready to cite straight into your document.

What it does

The Research Library is your personal collection of sources. You upload research papers as PDFs, and Diglot reads them so you can ask questions about them in plain language.

When you ask a question, the answer comes only from the papers you uploaded — nothing from the open web. Each part of the answer carries a small numbered marker that points back to the exact source and page, so you can always check where a fact came from. From there, any cited passage can become a proper reference in your document with one step.

Think of it as a smart reading assistant for your own stack of papers. (If you want to search the open web or scholarly databases instead, that’s Deep Research.)

How to find it

• Open the Research Library from the sidebar.
• Drag a PDF onto the upload area, or click to choose a file. It will show as processing for a moment, then turn ready.
• Once a source is ready, type your question in the Ask box.
• You can also open any uploaded PDF in a full reader to scroll through it yourself.

• Read in place — open any source in a built-in PDF reader.
• Cite into your document — turn any cited passage into a real reference and drop it into your writing.

On Free you can’t upload new PDFs, but you still get a few questions so you can try it out. Spark unlocks uploads, and Pro removes the limit on questions.

Limitations

• Text-based PDFs only. Scanned PDFs that are just images of pages can’t be read yet — there’s no text in them to search.
• PDFs for now. Other file types and web links aren’t supported yet.
• Answers stay grounded. If something isn’t covered in the papers you uploaded, Diglot will tell you rather than make an answer up.
• One person, one library. Shared or team libraries aren’t available yet.

Common questions

Is my library private? Yes. Your sources are tied to your account only — no one else can read them.

How is this different from Deep Research? The Research Library answers from your uploaded PDFs. Deep Research goes out to the open web and scholarly databases — and it can even save the papers it finds back into your library.

Why does it say it can’t find the answer? It only answers from your own sources. If the topic isn’t covered in the PDFs you uploaded, it will say so instead of inventing an answer.

Can I cite a result in my essay? Yes. Any cited passage becomes a real reference and inserts straight into your document.

My scanned PDF returned nothing — why? It’s probably a scan with no readable text layer. Diglot can’t yet read images of text.
